Default Appraisal: P5K Deluxe

Hello All:

I must rma my board and I'm thinking of getting a p5e instead of waiting for the rma to come back to me. What could I ask for my p5k deluxe once I receive it back from ASUS.

Thanks.

Open box on the Egg is $145, NIB is $219.
I concur with $169-170 shipped.

Agreed.... given the 'open box' price at newegg.

You're not sure you actually get a new board... they might fix yours. What was wrong with it?

No post, no beeps, in or out of the case with all hardware removed and bare min (1 stick of ram, vid card, etc). Even took out all the ram to see if I got any beeps and nothing. But the thing powers up and spins the fans, I get the pretty lights but nothing else.

short circuit... you'll probably get a new one.

You did this with the stock intel cooler I assume (otherwise, it might have been the backplate of the Thermalright causing you problems).

Really? No, I didn't use the stock cooler. What could the backplate be contacting to short it? Has this happened to someone you know?

I searched through the forum to find threads with similar problems and they all ended up in dead-ends with rma's.

As always, thanks for the info.

There is a bunch of solder points on the back, and in some cases the backplate could cause a problem (esp when mounted without protective tape).

But yeah, I assume it's RMA anyways.
