My uncle is selling his rig for a laptop, but he wants to know how much he can get for it. I built it for him some years ago. He is selling everything (tower, monitor and key/mouse).
-Pentium D 3Ghz (I forget designation) -Gigabyte GA-8I945P-G Mobo -Corsair ValueSelect 2GB (2x 1GB) DRR2-667 (Running in Dual-Channel) -ATi X300 128MB GFX card -WD Caviar SE 250GB SATAII -(Brand Unknown) DVD-RW Drive (I believe it's 16x, and is capable of DL) -Floppy -MSI TurboStream 450W SLI-Ready PSU (original PSU crapped out, I had this one laying around) -Some cheap case off of Newegg (it does the job, right?) 5x 80mm fan slots, all of them are filled. -19" Wild Wing (or West Wing) monitor (no clue on specs) -Logitech Wireless Desktop (entry-level model) This all cost him around $1100, I highly dislike making profits off of family, but that was due to my dad. I had to get the greedy one for a dad... ![]() So, what do you guys think? This was built around the time when PDs were about 3-4 months old.

I did tell him that it would be very low... but I didn't expect that low.

Well you can build a much better computer for $500 nowadays, sorry to disappoint, think about it the 945 chipset is ancient now, can you still buy Pentium D's anymore? It's a cheap case and power supply too

You could get maybe $100 more off of someone who doesn't know about the Netburst/Core transition in terms of CPU clocks. Try the classified ads in your local paper - people who buy from there are notoriously tech-illiterate.

Craigslist it for $550. Or part it out and try eBay. I have a friend who did that for his proc and mobo and made money on it. Can't say for sure you will be that successful, but it is worth a try.
