I am an IT pro, so I get access to a lot of CPUs. I recently came upon a E8400 E0, with 1.125VID. CPUz registers it at .95v or so at idle. The CPU is practically brand new, as it only been put in to see the VID.

i doubt its that low. check to see if cool n quiet is on. that is what usually puts it that low. may have reset bio's due to different cpu.

Trust me. I have worked on a lot of systems and I have built dozens of PCs. It is not common, but it is also not impossible to have a VID that low. Also, I am using CoreTemp 99.5, which is the latest version. I know some older revision of CoreTemp was not showing the VID to be accurate on certain steppings of 45nm CPUs, but I have checked on couple of motherboards with the same CPU, and I can confirm that it was the same with C1E and SpeedStep disabled.

Also, I know to reset the BIOS after a new CPU install. This was not a Help thread, but rather an Appraisal thread.

Having 1.125VID is quite low for E8400s, however that does not guaranty it'll be a good overclocker. Seeing the retail price is around 170, I'd say around you could probably sell this chip for 150 here on OCN.

VID means nothing. OC results mean the world.
$140-150 shipped w/o knowing potential. $180 or more if its a proven oc. In other words I agree with the above quotes.

Yeah, until you get some overclock time on that, you really can't ask for much extra.
Going blind: $130 to $160 Good overclocker: $160+
