Default ATI x1600xt overheating

I've got the VsionTek x1600xt 512PCIe in a rig I built last May. It's been running fine with a few minor hiccups this last year. I added a second hard drive (found a third one in the tower I'd never hooked up just had it in the bay) and installed Vista Ultimate a few weeks back. Since then, when I go into a 3D game (Eve Online or Supreme Commander demo) the display goes black and the system locks after about 10-15 min.

I've been playing Eve for the entire time I've had the computer and never ran into this before. I ran folding@home on both cores (two instances) for half an hour and the system ran fine, neither core broke 67 degrees. I ran a memory test (MemTest free) and it came by fine too. I installed a few different versions of ATI Tool and can't get the temp to come up for the card, so I'm guessing the card doesn't have the ability. I have taken the panel off after its deadlocked and found that the video card is really hot. I've tried running with the panel on and off with the same results. I removed the stock heatsink and added arctic silver 5 today and the same problem occurs.

Bottom line: the graphics card is way too hot to be usable. I'm looking for recommendations for cooling solutions. I'm looking at the Zalman ZM80D-HP, anyone have recommendations for or against it? I've heard of coolers that push the hot air outside of the tower but can't seem to find any that fit my card, anyone know of any?

Thanks for the help
Sonek

Thanks for the feedback, question for you about the size of it. Zalman's site says its 30mm high, have you tried crossfire with it? I'm at work now so I'll measure when I get home but it looks like there won't be enough room for the second graphics card. Even if there is the fan will be very close to the next card.

Any idea why the Radeon x1600's are in red on Zalman's compatibility list? (http://www.zalman.co.kr/product/cool...elist_eng.html) Doesn't seem to tell you what red means on their site unless I'm missing something.
