The fanmate2 on this vga cooler is starting to annoy me. Sometimes when I game, I forget to change the fan speed from silent to max so my card burns a bit and eventually shuts down. I usually keep the fan speed on silent mode when im not gaming.
__________________The question is, how can i remove the fanmate2 and just use my video card to control my fan speed? i have an ati x1950xt 256mb video card.

Have you looked into RIVA Tuner 2.06? I use it to control my GPU fan, it is the stock fan though. Riva Tuner will allow you to create fan speed profiles based on the GPU temps. For example, I have my card set so that at 60°C, the fan kicks on to 100%.

i dont think the vf900 can be attached to the card without modding it.

Try connecting it directly to the mobo if you have a free fan plugin space, that should have the fan at max speed.

I use speed fan. It largely depends on how many variable fan headers you have available on your MOBO. Theres no reason this should burn out a fan header.

Drop the Zalman and go with this..
As far as after market cooling of those cards... I installed 2 Zerotherm GX810's on mine and they did a great job... The main reason I didn't go with the Zalmans is due to having to open up my case to change the fan speed... They have this crazy setup where you have to unplug from one and plug into another to change fan speeds.. Zerotherm's 810 and 815 gamer fans have a thermal sensor that auto adjusts the fan speed as the card temp changes..So no need to change plug configs... 810... only $25 after rebate... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835887006 815... $29 after rebate.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835887009 Pic of my cards with the 810's installed.
