Default Best air cooler for ATI HD 3870

hey guys, im gonna order my hd 3870 soon w/ an aftermarket cooler (because.... aftermarket rox.) and i was wondering, which Cooler i should go for.

I was looking at the DuOrb by TT, it looks nice, but im not sure if its the best cooler. Then i was looking at the Zalman VF900 (which is kinda old) and it lagged behind the duorb in performance.

let me know.

Doesn't seem to be many choices. Personally I'm going to wait with getting a VGA cooler for my 3870 until I see how the temperatures are handled in my Nine-Hundred. I think with the 55nm lithography, there will be less heat to worry about. Plus the AC design 2 slot cooler works decent from my past experiences.

It seems fairly even with other cards in the same range. If anything, get full copper heatsinks for the memory and replace the copper painted one's that come stock. That's whay I may do first. Blower fans usually work good, but are loud on high usually.

I heard that it runs much cooler than the 8800GT Personally i would buy it and see for your self how well the cooler runs

Looking at the cards it looks like a simply finned block with a fan shroud like an artic silencer so maybe remove the shroud and attach a high flow 80mm fan onto the standard heatsink Popular with the 8800 series in Overclocking competitions

Hmmm... This has been discussed elsewhere and from the reviews the HR03 is still a better cooler, maybe im wrong but either way i'm sure they are both much betterthan standerd cooling
