Default HD3850 help please

Well, I just took my HD3850 apart and it looks like I might need some extra heatsinks, but I'm not sure. I'm installing a Zerotherm GX810 to replace my stock cooler.

I only have 8 of those green heatsinks, but it looks like I need more to cover the 2 groups of 4 little chips seen in the second picture. So my question is can I leave those uncovered without a heatsink, or do I have to order a couple extra heatsinks and re-seat the stock cooler until they get here? Can I even just leave them naked for now and install the GX810 and not OC my card until I get extra heatsinks?
Thanks!

If the stock GPU (Core) heatsink was up against them, then you should reseat the stock cooler and order some more.

Yeah, looking at this it kind of looks like I need a couple extra. That really stinks though because now I'm going to have to wait another week for the heatsinks.
Anyone else have any other opinions? Just to be sure.

no, you MUST have heatsinks to cover the voltage reg's as well as the mem modules. its pretty much a must unless you want to say byebye to your video card.

Well, I bought some copper Thermaltakes and threw them on today, so far I like it! I have an idle temp of 28C, I'll find my load temp tomorrow after the heatsink pads have some time to settle. Then I'll see how far I can push this thing !
