currently, im using the fanmate to connect the fan to the video card but can the fan on the vf900 connect directly to the video card? it is getting quite annoying to change the fan speed manually everytime i game.

I know what you mean krazieaznboi, I have the same problem. I have to adjust the speed at the back on my case, although the games will run fine on low speed. However, I don't want to cause too much strain on the GPU.
I don't think there is an easy solution unfortunately.

hook directly to the motherboard without the stupid fanmate...wouldn't trust them for anything, especially a $100+ GPU

if i hook up the fan to the motherboard, won't it either ran on max? or won't it run on silent mode or stop spinning because fans don't have thermal sensors so motherboard detects ambient temp and just stop the fan from spinning?

Just plug it in to your motherboard, and unless you set fan controls on your BIOS (some boards allow limited fan controls), it will run at full speed, which is practically inaudible.

I had mine connected directly to power supply, via 3 pin to molex adaptor. Yes the fan is on 100% all the time, but it cools the card down really well, and have had it running at 100% for over a year now without any problems.
