Default Coolink GFXCHILLA for 4850 CF Review

I have been meaning to post this up for the past week. I ordered the Coolink GFXCHILLA from NCIXUSA.com. They were the only ones that had them. I have used the Accelero on my 9600gt and felt that it was way to big.

The GFXCHILLA offered a smaller size that fit within the card and did not extend over and seemed to do a decent job at cooling.

I bought two MSI 4850's when they first came out with the custom cooling.
This did well though 35c idle did not make me excited. The one benefit though of buying the MSI board and you can do this with the Sapphire or any other board that added their own aftermarket fan. The ram/vrm's are all covered with a seperate heatsink. So the Coolink was going to be perfect.

The Cooler itself.

So I installed everything. Pics as follows.

The stock low profile fans were good but did not live up to my demands of being able to have a air cooled card that's better than water cooling.

So Scythe Kama-Flex 2500rpm 34cfm 80mmx25mm were installed

Here are the temps on one card right now in my new HAF 932. The fans are all on high. Ambient temps are 20c.

At idle. This is just one card. I am in the process of re-doing my computer (again).

Running Furmark at full load. Did not break 30c.

Two card together Vantage Score

Both Cards Installed- May place a fan blowing over the fans and out the back. Once the second one is installed it chokes the primary card. This won't be an issue if you use the slim fans. Also take note that you will lose any PCI cards that you may have.

Two cards at Idle

Running Furmark

Looks nice.

As for your comment of being disappointed that an air cooler can't perform better than a water block. Well that's just kinda self explanatory. No matter how good the air cooler is, a good water loop will always outperform it. At the cost of more money for water of course.

I've done water cooling in the past on my EVGA 640mb and was happy. Air cooling is a lot less stressful to build and also maintain, lol.

Thanks

WHOA!! I need to pick up this sucker.

And the best part is that I don't need to hack my cooler for the power (PWM?)

Nice review man.

On the MSI 4850's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=msi%204850 They have their own PVM. Sapphire, Gigabyte, Powercolor also did there own aftermarket heatsinks. So any of those will also work. It's better than having to stick on the heatsinks and worry about them falling off.
