Default Airflow

Good day reader,

I have bought an HD4850 and have been working on it for a few weeks now. A few days ago I checked the temperature of the videocard and it was suprisingly high compaired to when I first bought it. I idled at around 80C at 24% fanspeed. And when I play games I get to 90-95C at 50% fanspeed. If possible, could you give me some tips on improving this temperature?

Also some information: I've replaced the normal thermal compound with AS5(made no diff though) And I have 8.10 beta drivers(which adjust fanspeed automaticly)

Here is a scetch of my case.

Thanks cincerely for reading.

If I'm reading your picture right, it looks pretty good...

What are your ambient temps?

My ambient is 20C and I use 1 Coolermaster fan(the top outtake one) it produces around 40CFM and I use 2 fans that came with the case. And the fan on the heatsink is the original from which came with the heatsink.

Judging from testing with my hand and a wet finger, I recon they all produce around the same CFM as the coolermaster

Putting a second intake fan above the one you already have, and adding a side intake fan should drop your temps significantly.

At the very least, if you don't want to purchase more fans, switching one of your exhausts to a side intake would be a good option.

A second intake fan on the front will be a problem, there are no screw holes there to put a case fan. I will try the side intake right now.

Interesting, according to the product description you should be able to fit 8 fans in this case...

2 side
3 front
2 top
1 rear

I can confirm this, as I have this same case...But I can only run 2 in the front due to my burner taking 1 bay up. Check out my build log in my sig to look at pix.

Have you tried getting all the dust out of the Card? Also why not just set your fan to 100% 24/7 that will bring temps down alot!

Clearly you have not witnessed the noise the coolers they slapped on these cards are capable of pumping out
