Default Cooling or 4870 X2

Hello.

What different options do I have if I want to buy an aftermarket cooler for a 4870 X2?

Yeah, that's really it. There is a way to add a new air cooler but it involves butchering the stock cooler and making your own mounting brackets.

Also you might want to reapply the thermal paste, it drop me temps down a few degrees.

Ok thanks. Overclocking it without a watercooling system isn't very smart is it? Or is it possible to OC it a bit by just increasing the fan speed? And if it is can you plug the stock fan into a fan controller or will I have to use fanspeed or something completely else?

Increase the fan speed. But it will sound nice and loud. But it's worth it.

water cooling full block. even if in the future there is a processor only block i'd recommend against it as the memory will probably overheat causing crashes.. etc etc. so pretty much wc is the only way to go. unless your wearing earphones while playing the 4870x2 fan is annoyingly loud. go 4 the ek block

Ok. what wc system should I buy? I don't want anything super expensive. Is it possible to use 1 watercooling system to cool both a CPU and a GPU?

Yep, but you're looking at $400+ for a decent loop.

That's a lot... If I would just use watercooling for my GPU what would it cost me to buy that watercooling system?
