Just enough to cover the gpu print
![]() Like this I used a small drop of thermal paste and put my finger in a plastic bag to spread the thermal paste until it looks like that

Yeah but usually you just put like a dot and cover it with the heatsink, so like how much do you think I should put lol

With a dot the heatsink spreads it for you, and you risk it running over the edge and hitting resistors and causing shorts and problems.
Spread it evenly and slight with your finger is the better way to go with gpu,s since there are so many other parts near it, unlike a cpu.

The dot should be big enough to be stretch all the way. Also why not spread it its a small area not hard.

You use more on GPUs than on CPUs. When you go to clean off the old paste, you will see the manufacturer used a lot too.
You want enough to cover the whole die. So put a dot on there, spread it out with a plastic bag, and apply more if needed. Be careful with AS5 though, it's conductive, and even though the GPU die will be fine, the stuff around it sure won't.

Ok I'll spread it then, sorry I'm used to just putting the heatsink over and letting it spread.
Soooo basically I put like a tiny dot, smaller then I'd put on a cpu, then spread it with a plastic bag yeah?
