Hi guys. Im new to the formus, although ive been reading ALOT of threads.
I bought a Gecube hd4850 1GB last week, and the stock cooler is SO loud. My PC basically sounds like a tornado. From what I can guess the FAN is running @ 100% the whole time. That would make sense if the temps are really high, but they are not. Im looking at the temps according to Catalyst control the idle temp is 39degrees. The reason im thinking that its running at 100% is because it never makes more noise or less. Even when I play Crysis @ full spec. The manual fan control in Catalyst control centre doesnt seem to work either. Ive got the latest drivers installed. IS there any way that I can tell this fan to slow down to a slower speed when Im not playing games? Any suggestions?

OK. According to the hardware monitoring in rivatuner my GPU's fans speed is 2250rpm, on Idle. Is this high?
Also Ive been exploring the settings on the app, and it seems that I can adjust the fan speed in the "low level system settings" is this what im supposed to do? Im a bit of a n00b at this, sorry. Also is 25% the lowest the fan speed can go?

just update to the newest catalyst control center. click on the 3D in the advanced menu and there will be a fan speed adjustment there. I normally run mine at about 60% for general use and gaming.

I run mines at 5k RPM or higher (don't remember) when playing games like CoD4 or FC2. 2.2k RPM is very quiet. I'm not sure what noise you're talking about.

hmmmmmmmm. Dunno hey, cant seem to figure this one out...
Ive got total 7x120mmfans in my case. without the GFX cooler my PC runs so silent I forget its on (i tested it with an old heatpipe 6600gt) Seems as if the 80mm fan on my 4850 is just super noisy, thats it. I dont really want to upgrade to an aftermarket cooler. It there anything else I can try?
