Default Need to replace Diamond HD 3850 fan

As the title suggests, I need to replace the fan on my 3850.
The problem is driver related, as the fan works perfectly fine under Windows, but doesn't work at all under Linux (it will idle at 55C). And there are no ATI fan controller apps on Linux.

I have hardware fan controllers, but the fan on this card uses some weird 4-pin connector. I really just need a basic solution to this problem - like maybe just a new fan of the same size with a 3-pin connector(?).

I'm open to all suggestions.

what is weird is, on newegg it looks like the farthest pin on the right is empty?
have you tried putting it in a 3 pin fan controller? if you "force" it (i say that lightly), you shouldn't have a problem?

i could be wrong and the pins could be weird or something.

nope - 4 wires. And the connector is shaped in a way that it won't fit on the 3-pin fan connectors.
