I am simply wondering this for those who might have replied to my other thread im ordering my 4650 and was wondering if ramsinks would help. And what kinds of effect it would have on the cooling
__________________Newegg ran a special on his 4650 which they also ran another special on the 8600gts with gddr3 which is an upgrade from the orignial but for ten more why not get the 4650 anyways its got a nice fan over the core but ram is not covered so i started thinking ramsinks. But really will this help my overclock enough to justify ordering them and putting them on. Also for anyone that knows if im careful can i use my artic 5 compound instead of the thermal tape not sure if the compound would be sticky enough to hold it on.

Can you post a link to it? And yes, ramsinks will help with temps, just stick with the thermaltape, it works fine (worked fine on my 8800GT's).

You want to overclock DDR2?
Ramsinks wouldn't hurt (especially if for cheap) but I think they wouldn't go really far. After all, they are probably using 450/900 DDR2 already, you won't go up more. It's the limitations of the RAM itself rather than anything else.

(sarcastic) And yes i will overclock if the performance is there without breaking anything why not every frame counts right

5 more bucks after MIR. No OCing needed, best you could get.

No i really dont have the extra money to wait on rebate i have to also figure in another stick of memory so while i know that the 70 model will offer a modest increase in performance i just cant swing the extra money upfront and i wasnt planning on ordering the ramsinks till this weekend which if i order tonight the video card will already be here in time for my day off

also just for the record when i first added the 4650 to my cart it was ten off only costing 59.99 so when poeple looked at the link it said 69.99 but by the time i checked out it was regular price so i got on live chat with newegg and having the order history i do with them well over 2000 dollars in building computers for other people and the recent orders for some parts from another thread. which by the way if u seen my other thread i chose an intel setup.

I'm pretty sure that the card's ocability isn't going to be limited by the RAM overheating or even getting too warm. My 4670 has no heasinks or any other form of active cooling for the RAM (other than air blowing off the GPU heatsink), and the RAM (and core) only reach about 50C max while gaming--idle around 33C. But the RAM doesn't OC much more than 50MHz above stock--it's mostly just not overclocking RAM. But the gpu should be promising...
