What are your temps right now? If the temps aren't bad, a new cooler won't help things much, unless you plan to volt mod, then the better cooling will keep your temps down.

Idle temps now at stock speeds are 35C.

And load? Better cooling won't get you a better overclock unless your temps are what is holding you back. I would say that something else is probably holding you back since your idle temp with stock cooling is pretty low. Maybe your card, another overclock, not enough voltage, etc.

The Zalman VF700-AlCu is too light for a HD4850. If I were you, I would look for a better solution such as an AC Accelero S1 or a Twin Turbo.

It's a VisionTek, if that matters. ![]() I use ATi Overdrive's Auto Tune feature, never artifacted in games from what I'd notice, but 3dmark06 will only do a full crash-free run with stock speeds. Possbly dodgy 64-bit drivers?

I have the Visiontek and I use the 8.10 drivers with a DuOrb. I haven't had any problems with the driver. Before the DuOrb, I had no problems and could overclock it around 650, 1100 with temps in the 50s idle, 70s load. Now I have it overclocked about the same (never noticed much of a difference) with temps around 30 idle and 45-50 load. In all seriousness, I never noticed a substantial increase in overclocking my 4850. It has been a great card, but I don't think better cooling will help you get a better overclock. If you do the Auto-tune, try to back it off 20-30 since it seems to do it a bit much and test for artifacts with ATITool or something.

Ah, ok thanks

Dual monitors work fine for me. Have you completely uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers?
You can use HWMonitor and run a game or ATITool Artifact check to put the card under some stress. You can do it full screen since the program records highs and lows so when you exit you can see how hot it got.
