Default accelero S1 rev2 did I damage my card?

I purchsed this cooler today having put it on I noticed that whenever I boot my pc only shows the mobo logo then a red light comes on the video card... so I put back my stock cooler on.. and everything booted ok.. but it seems the thermal tape for the ramchips dont transfer the heat aswell any more so my ram chips when playing a game reaches 115c then my pc shuts down.. but I boot ok though... so did i damage my card ?

No, i don't think so.

What i imagine has happened is that the Accelero S1 doesn't cool the RAM adequately enough. As you know, the 4850's RAM runs very hot and therefore has to have good cooling.

A few people have had problems fitting old heatsinks to the 4870's and 4850's because they don't cover the RAM or VRM's well enough. If you want to try it again, you'll need RAM heatsinks and even then, they may not be effective enough.

One other thought is that the board is shorting. This happens when the heatsink is not fitted properly and it may be touching metal on the card.

Maybe the card does bad contact with the new cooler.

You really need to rename and apply a colour scheme to Everest sidebar!

Temps seem quite high, but Furtemp is quite brutal!

krazyglue does NOT conduct heat.

It doesn't conduct anything, really. IT just sticks something on.
