Default Sapphire 1GB 4870 fan setting?

Is there anyway i can stop my fan from sounding like a jet when im playing a game other then putting a new one on?

Surely there's no need to have the fan at 100%???

Is there an 'in the middle' setting? It idles around 43'ish and highest so far has been 58'ish.

you should be able to use CCC to adjust the fan setting. unlock the overclocking abilities and then turn the fan down to whatever you like. mine stays at 60% unless overclocking and i can hear it.

Well it seems that ur fan is set on auto, you should go into CCC and put a set percentage on it.

Install RivaTuner 2.11 and make some fan profiles... I was annoyed too by the sound of the fan and that solved the problem. I've set these ranges for the fan:

25c-50c --> 25% fan speed
51c-55c --> 50% fan speed
56c-60c --> 75% fan speed
61c-100c --> 100% fan speed

Beware to install the 2.11 version and not the latest one (2.21)!! 2.21 didn't work for me. Post back if you need any help with the settings.

I keep mine at 40% and I stay right around 60C under full load. It's not terribly loud, but still you can hear it over most normal fans. I don't have a problem with it since I have a 3k Ultra Kaze on my TRUE.

I keep mine at 60% and is barley noticeable over the other fans. i like to keep my components no hotter than 42c at idle. I have the sapphire.
