hey i just got a sapphire 4830 and i wanted to oc this card.
but i have never had an ati based card until now. i was wondering what the safe temps this gpu can operate at? i also have an aftermarket cooler installed. currently i have the card at 675gpu and 1005mem. overdrive reports temps at 46c when idle but i dont trust the readings here.

the gpu works fine at 95-100C but I agree with the above poster that load temps should ideally be kept below 85C

yeah, i agree! the higher the load temps the more unstable your overclock will become. keep it under 85 degrees for stability's sake!

WHEW...
ok my cpu and gpu are within 50 - 60 on load. looks like i can push this 4830 even further. i currently have it at 675 / 1008 and it loads at a mere 51c cpu is not overclocked cuz i dont understand my board bios and amd overdrive does not seem to retain the settings when i reboot.

check this one:
__________________http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews....=654&pageid=12 the ati 4830 runs cooler and more efficient than its 9800gt counterpart. and amongst the manufacturers, sapphire ran coolest despite being clocked a bit higher. that's why i'm buying that card next week.
