Default Cooling for dual HD3870

Ok , so i want to overclock these things , and i need some recommandations for some coolers , i was thinking about the accelero s1 rev2 but damn ! it's big and space is a problem when you have a dual gpu solution , i have only 2 slots between the 2 cards, so i need something good in that size, i've heard that only the accelero takes 2 slots and with the turbo modules it takes out almost 3 , now the question is , will the fanless accelero will resist to a overclocking to like 850/2500 mhz? Other options within the same price ?

Have you thought about trying a Thermaltake DuOrb? I use them on my 4850s and they keep my cards at 40 under load.

If your looking for a cheaper price you can try to find them used. I got the 2 I'm using now at $25.00 CAD a piece.

I have the same problem and that is a good option but i am thinking more about liquid cooling but i have not seen a cooler for the 3870 only 4870. U should check if the results are worth the prize. I have tried liquid cooling for cpu Q6600 and i had amaizing results. My CPU playing Far Cry 2 on High was low 40.C and i live in Puerto Rico were the temperature are almost allways on high 80.F

Water cooling will definitely do better no argument at all. But you need to buy the water cooling system and blocks for the cards. That gets really pricey. If you have the dollars by all means, but I believe at this point in video card progression the blocks will probly cost you more than the video card is really worth.

With the duorbs you spend the flat dollar to buy it and toss it on. away it goes no major fees or huge hassle to install. Also if you decide to upgrade you just pull it off and clean it and use it again. I believe you'd need a new water block if you decided to switch cards.
