Default Does overclocking a X800 xl really make a dif.

Alright i just got a x800 xl(256 RAM) for my brother and he wants me to overclock. Will it make a differance at all? Will it make the games he plays like BF2 and other hardware demanding games perform better (no lag)?

If it does, what are the programs and how much overclocking is safe?

And can i just use the heatsink that came with it?

Its a ATI brand, not a 3rd party one.
