Default ati 4870s cooling

Hey guys,

I'm running dual 4870s in crossfire. there made my asus with the TOP cooler. I have them in an antec 300 case with a water cooling loop on the cpu. You can see a pic in my sig. I'm hitting 84C and 88C on them under 95% load running 50-80% fan.

Do you guys know anything I can do to help cool these?

I was thinking I could add another intake fan in the front of my case. I was also thinking I could replace the default thermal paste with some mx2. do you guys think this would help or should I spring for some battle axe coolers?

I'd recommend a Thermalright HR-03/R600

Is the case side panel on?

Remove it if so and crank the fans on the cards up to 100%

i had the stock 4870 cooler on 33% (above that was just too loud) and it idled at around 51c, i just installed a Thermalright T-Rad2.. idle temps are 36c, Load 46-47c

i installed 2x92mm fans (44cfm approx) onto the cooler..

if you are CF'ing then T-Rad 2 might not be suitable.. (unless you've got a huge gap between your 2 cards )

What kind of cooling do you have in your case? That's pretty warm for such high RPM on the fan. I run my fan at 40% and idle at 36-38C and load around 55-56C. With the fan set to 100% I believe my load was around 50C. So your temps seem pretty high, but I have high airflow fans all through my case and it's not terribly quiet.
