Default Attn Ac Ati Silencer Users

I have seen posts in which people complain that the core temps on their x800 and x850 series is a little high even when using the ATI silencers by arctic cooling. Some have even gone as far as to remove the shim and risk damaging the capacitors. I have a simple solution that worked for me. When you get the silencer and it has the thermal glue for the core already on the copper in a square, apply the cooler like you are supposed to and run it at the higher temps for a few days. After the glue has taken form remove the cooler and you will notice the glue has taken shape of the core form and is thin along the top. The top of the core is where the most heat is released(surface area is the greatest) So remove the cooler and spread glue back into the middle so that there is heavier contact on top of the core when you reinstall the cooler. You should still have some glue to cover the sides once you reinstall it. also make sure to tighten the screws on the bridge on the bottom of the card as tight as possible. I saw an 8 degree idle and almost 10 degree load difference after doing so
