Default Swiftech MC21 on Air cooled Radeon 4870?

Hey guys I'm considering getting a Zalman VF-1000 for my 4870, problem is it does not have any VRM-sinks, which sucks because I've heard of problems of them overheating even when not overclocked.

Before you guys say, "get iandH's heatsinks", I just wanna know if the Swiftech MC21's (link: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16835108094) are suitable for the job. I'm asking this because iandH's sinks are great, but expensive, and less available to me up here in Canada.

So, yet again, I need opinions guys =) Thanks in advance.

TBH, it doesnt look like enough, you can try and use them but if it seems too hot then get the iandH heatsinks, they seem to be doing the trick pretty well, sorry for the generic post *JaKe*

You could do what I did, and take apart the stock cooler, and use the red heatspreader.

Then put some RAM sinks above the VRM's and near the memory.

Keeps my memory under 55 at load.

I'd go with the stock red plate since it will likely cool the memory and VRMs better than any small heatsinks you can buy.

That's what I use. I kept the fan and shroud on as well. Just cut out the top part of the shroud for tubing.

I ran the fan for a while, but the gray VRM that is directly under it still got quite hot. So I pulled the fan off, and put down some cut up heatsinks on that, and all over that area of the heatspreader.

I think I might also put some heatsinks on the flat spot, near the DVI ports, and hope that can cool the memory a bit (the tubing gets in the way of putting heatsinks on the spreader above the memory.
