Unhappy Artifacts Problem

so i just got my new ZALMAN VF700CU-LED for my 9800 PRo, took off my old fan, followed all the instructions and installed it. when i go into ATiTool to see what OC i can get, im getting thousands of artifacts in every frame, at default mem/core clocks. so i let it run a little and then open up the computer to check out the card. the fan is running fine and the core feels cool, but the mem sinks are extremely hot, like nearly burning to the touch. can anyone help?

Did you clean the memory before you put the sinks on?

Hmm, I'm just going to check mine and see if they get that hot

Edit: I've run mine for a bit and the ram is slightly cool to the touch, certainly not burning. What's the cooling like in your case? Plenty of airflow, no messy wires etc?

Careful with the fan as brushed fans cause static
Do you have temporal antialiasing turned on?

Mine's in the 3D tab, then Custom. Then uncheck application pref and then untick Temp AA.
Edit: Used to have a 9800, but can't remember if there was cooling on the ram as stock?
