I just purchased this 4850 off of newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814102770R
__________________After reading through the forums, it seems that the stock heatsink won't suffice for heavily overclocking. I have a vf900 laying around, would I have better temps if i use this? It wasn't sufficient for my x1950xt when overclocking, but they were known to be hot chips. I also thought of just removing the black stock fan and replacing it with a ziptied 120mm fan. Would this cause better temperatures? If so, should it be blowing on the card or away from it? PS: don't suggest another heatsink, i'm broke after this upgrade and my recent e5200 one.

I do believe that stock heatsink isn't that horrible. It's the reference stock heatsinked 4850's that are horribad. That is not a reference cooler.

I'm not saying its horrible, but i am planning on a bios mod to unleash this beast. From other topics, it won't suffice for high clock speeds.

Picked up that same card, and it just arrived today. Pretty eager to test it out. I'll let you know how it handles the heat.
