Default HR-03 GT on 4870 mem sink problem

ok so one of my friends just bought a 4870 of ebay and the man shipped it without a cooler no idea why

so he had 2 options keep the card and the man would give him a 100% refund or get the stock hsf

well he took the cash so he has a free 4870 but anyway he had a hr-03 gt he had bought because he was going to swap the coolers anyway and as we were installing it there are 2 mem sinks that are under the heat pipes and these are some pathetic heatsinks and they go under 6 hot heatpipes

so the basic question is will the bad memory cooling method with this cooler be enough for gddr5

i know the gpu will run cool but will it burn up the memory on the card??

imput appreciated

The memory should be fine as long as the case has plenty of airflow/a decent fan on the HR-03 GT

i hope so it just kinda seems like they spent all this time designing a great gpu cooler and realizing after the fact that its in the way but instead of adjusting the cooler they use a subpar solution to make it function

under heatpipes of a notoriously hot gpu covered in thin aluminum with no fins i mean they could have atleast made the cheap solution a good one and made it out of copper with deeper fins

If you are really worried you can mount it in the B type configuration

It is the lower half of the picture.

Check for more info on Thermalrights page of the HR-03 GT

unfortunately the six heatpipes will still eclipse the 2 two middle ram chips on the top row no matter the direction even though method b seems rather interesting
