Angry Alternative Cooling for 3870 X2 or DIY

Hey guys, I came home today from school, to the lovely sound of a fan clattering, to my surprise, it was the fan on my 3870 X2, its rubbing against its housing which tells me that for some reason its sitting too low. What can I do to solve this, the noise its making is unbearable?

If nothing can be done are there even any aftermarket coolers for it? Water cooling is not an option by the way.

Thanks .

YOu can mount 2 Zalman VF900's on it.

Tight fit, but I've seen it done before.

Hmm, that could be an option I guess, I already have one, I'd just need to get another. Doesn't the bridge need to be cooled too though?

I wish I could get an accelero or something . If I don't find anything I might sell this and go back to my 9800GT for a while.

That can be cooled with a small heatsink.

Doesn't need much.

I'm not sure, but the Xtreme 4870x2 might work. I think both x2 cards have a similar PCB layout.

I was actually just looking at that, I think I might email AC to see if it could fit.

Sweet, I got the card to a magical spinning speed where it doesn't make noise . But if I walk around my room, each step I take it goes "bump, bump, bump".

Well best of luck to you either way.

I'd probably just got the VF900's. With a small memsink on the bridge chip.
