Default Accelero S1 R2 + 4770? Will it work?

Will it work without modifications?

Did a little research to find this:

Quote:

The distance between two mounting holes is 43mm, like that on Radeon X1650/X1600, GeForce 8600/8500 Series, while that of Radeon HD4800/3800 and GeForce G9X is 53mm.

In our view, it’s unnecessary to change the cooler, unless you think it’s not pretty enough.
source

Also, on newegg compatibility says:
Quote:
ATI:
Radeon HD 3870, 3850, 2600, 2400, X1950, X1900, X1800, X1650, X1600, X1550, X1300 series

NVIDIA:
GeForce 8800GTS(G92), 8800GT, 8600, 8500, 8400, 7950GT, 7900, 7800, 7600, 7300, 6800, 6600 series (except 7X00 GS AGP)

Please check your card with the height restriction drawing to assure compatibility.
Thanks, reps awarded for trying to help.

I've been looking around online the past day or so and found that it can fit but needs the fins to be bent down on one side.

(the pics not mine, but just for reference)

Oh....that sucks. Maybe I'll get the Accelero S2 since it fits the X1650 and is not as wide as the S1.

Dude accelero s1 r2. 4 heat pipes and does excellent cooling!!! All you need to do is a little sanding/trimming one of the ram sinks to make it work. I use it on my 4830 witch is oced to around 860(core) and 1201(mem) and I stay under 60c. Original cooler did 85+ with 100percent fan speed while a single 1200rpm fan does better ^_^

Thing is the modification took less then 5 minutes and had no problems so far and TOTALY recomend this!
