![]() and i placed some ram sinks on the back of the card to help cooling too. i tried furmark, and the temp was freakn high on the mem units, much higher than in anything i've even seen before. and i will never touch that destructive thing again.

Heres my results with the AC off/overclocked 4890
1: Is it ok to run my card this hot? 2: I have an XFX card...instead of the stock plate making contact with the VRMS there is a little heatsink there, maybe 1 CM tall/wide that covers the VRMS, ***? ![]() Be back in 20 min, trying Sapphire plate.

i dont know whats the temp on them when the stock cooler is on them. so they might have been designed to run hot.

2. replace the stock fans on the cooler. better fans will not only drop the temp further, but also the noise too. 3. stick some heat sinks on the back of the card like i did. the airflow above the card ( from the cpu cooler in my case ) will take the heat away. just watch out the locations you place them!! dont short any resistance.

This is pissing me off. I'm sorry but I can't stand this VRM BS with ATI
I'm seriously considering a GTX 260 or a 275 right now. I have a Zalman VRM cooler I bought for 5$ but it won't fit properly and i even tried bending my heatsink's fins, but my heatsink won't touch the die properly with the zalman there. I get 100c + after 5 minutes of ati-tool with the stock plate. Its not a fan problem, my fans are working fine and keeping my GPU core at 58c full load overclocked

*edit* - Click on the attached pic in the link. The ones circled in light blue and yellow are the VRMs. http://www.overclock.net/6373237-post10.html Quote:

Well my card died.
Probably from VRM abuse. It just black screened and now it won't show signal, while my 8800 GTS works.. Rma time!
