Just a fyi, but they use thermal pads for laptops (at least for Asus). Kind of like the ones they use between ram and sinks but very thin.

Quick question:

How can Furmark damage your card? Run its temps really high?

overloading i guess, demands beyond the design to push for the limit, but acttually through it. then eventually leads to overheating.

Most of the time your PC will shut down when the temp reaches a dangerous level. My Crossfied x1900's did it a few times before I water cooled them in my last rig. I just could not stand the run the fan too high. The noisy fan on the 4890/4870 is NOTHING compared to the pitch/tone of the blower that was on the x1900 series.

that my results when idle with musashi.

the gpu would hit 60c, and some ram sensor 80c when fully loaded.

But if the temps are stable and there's no artifacting, how can it kill the card?

You have to put load on your card. Idle temps mean nothing for stability.

Your better off showing us actual load temps. We all know you cannot achieve those temps with the musashi on load.

Have you ever used Furmark before?

With the current state of vga air cooling and Furmark it is almost impossible to achieve sub 60C temps for the GPU and VRMs therefore it will not be stable and will artifact resulting in probable damage to your card.

I have not read any actual reports of cards failing due to Furmark but you can be the first to try and let us know!
