Oh yeah, I clean mine out every 2 months or so. The stock heatsink is a dust-magnet. I remember the first time before I cleaned it, my temps were up by ~25c and hit mid 90s in-game. Vacuumed out the dust from the fins, isopropyl on the chip and reapplied some TIM and it went right back down.
My case is on the bottom of my desk (on a wooden "shelf") but still gets a nice amount of dust in there.

It also helps if your fan is working. The fan on my HIS card died, and I since it's a closed design, I couldn't see it, until it started BSOD'ing when gaming. My VF-1000 hasn't disappointed me so far, though

Yep, I did this with mine (yes I used to have one) and also put some IC7 on it at the same time and temps dropped dramatically.

My dogs will do that sometimes as well. Come into my room and out of ALL the areas they could lay down, they lay down right up against my front intake fan >_< I still <3 them ![]() I've had my 4890 for about a month now and for some reason it's heatsink isn't getting blocked as my 4850 would have in the same time. Hmm...

Just an update after cleaning my video card with the dust-off spray and a little bit of picking all of the dust built up inside of that stock heatsink I am now @ 69-70c with 50% fan speed and F@H running! Cleaning the clogged up dusted heatsink literally knocked off 30c from load.
I guess no need to RMA my card now
