Heya,
So I have just installed two of these cards, and they seem to have high temps for a custom cooler. This is in idle ![]() The main card got up to the following in under 10mins running running the 3D cude in ATI Tools (not scanning for artifacts) Core: 75c Mem: 80c Shader: 77c Dont worry about the fan rpm, sensor is off. I also cannot change the fan rpm manually, not in riva tuna/evga precision etc. I will not be overclocking my video cards, since the core is 950mhz and mem is 1050mhz already overclocked. Also, when I got the cards before I put them in I replaced the stock TIM with OCZ freeze. The coolers are also seated properly. I cannot tell what the VRM temps are. Should I be worried about my temps at all?

No, temps are ok.
__________________Create a profile in CCC and lower your memory clocks. My temps dropped by quite a bit. The reason ATI didn't downclock the memory on idle is because doing so makes the screen flicker for half a second. From memory, your cards have analogue pwms so temps will be fine. Also notice that your second card is running in 3d all the time. Do you have 9.5 installed?

I created a profile but I cannot change the clocks at all when I go to ATI overdrive: ![]() I also noticed that the 2nd card is running in 3D mode. When I was in ATI Tool the 2nd card wasnt getting any usage at all (ATI Tool might on use 1 card?) I do have 9.5 installed also:

You don't need the profile hax trick any longer. Just unlock the key
and manually nail the fan speeds at like 40%. I kick mine up to 45-ish just to be on the safe side.

Yeah second card did the same thing. I just have Rivatuner load on log in and the first profile downclocks memory. I got a 10C temp drop and was able to lower my fans to 25% with temps in the low 40Cs [reference model]. For some reason, loading a profile makes the second card get out of 3d mode. If you do something 3d, ie play a game, you'll notice that after you close the application that powerplay now works on the second card.
__________________There is something buggy in 9.5 where you cannot use CCC to downclock the memory. I've tried it and had other people try it too. Unlike the 4870, you can't change the idle 2d or load 2d clocks. I'm hoping this is fixed with the next driver because I'm sure these will happily run on 250MHz. Power savings FTW.
