I have a Twin Turbo on order for my Sapphire 4870 512MB (reference design). After doing some reading I will probably not use the memory or VRM heatsinks that come with it. Instead, if you take the plastic housing and fan off the baseplate you just use the baseplate itself. General consensus is that this gives much better results than any discrete solutions will.... and it's free

This assumes that you have one of the original reference heatsinks of course.

(with alot! of noise and the fan speed was at 35% 2330RPM)

My temps now with the new cooler:
GPU 44°c GPU(dispo) 44°c GPU(memio) 88.5°c GPU(sharedcore) 60°c
(fan at 100% 2000RPM)

These temps are when the gpu is at 0%.
I'm a bit worried of the memory temps isn't 88.5°c to high?
I red on another topic that 78°c for the memory is normal... But doesn't it lower the lifetime of that memory chip?

Thx, Fré

edit:
Here are some pictures how it is cooled... (with those hig temps)

I don't recommend those ramsinks, if you have a 38/48 card, you should instead get 2 swiftech MC14's, put 2 on the voltage controllers and 8 on the ram, im sure those ramsinks are the best

This man speaks the truth.

All three of the temps are located on the die, your difference in temps indicates poor/uneven mounting pressure. You should be seeing at the most a 10-15°c difference between those temps.

With a proper seating and tim application you shoud see temps like mine.

What are you using for the VRMs? Those are my idle temps, they hit 120 under load, and will actually trip the sensor.

Everything else though I can confirm. I get roughly the same temps.

Then could you please explain why with the same fan speed your core temps under load are 5 degrees cooler than my idle temps?
