That cooler is not poor, not only is it quieter than reference but it also has 3 heat pipes instead of just 2. I had that card prior to my 4890 - I ran it with the fan between 35-50% (depending on what I was doing) and it never got as hot as what Zealot is reporting, with his fan at 100% no less. Like low 70s, tops (in tests). Never went above mid-60C while playing games.

I think his stock cooler just didn't have proper contact.

But I've heard from other people that said the cooler did not perform up to expectations.

I have 2 cards and both get same temps. Also with ATi Tools this card loads at 78C ~ 84% fans speed and when i play Crysis it passes 80C.

I have right now OCZ Freeze and that had no effect over stock TIM also tried the TIM that came wit my Megahalems.

Does it look like the base seats firmly on the die?
