Default HD 4870 Temps with Accelero twin turbo cooler

Hi,
I got a HD 4870 with 512mb. I just installed a new cooler becouse of the high temps and alot of noise of the stock cooler...

My temps with the stock cooler:
GPU 47°c GPU(dispo) 47°c GPU(memio) 53°c GPU(sharedcore) 49°c
(with alot! of noise and the fan speed was at 35% 2330RPM)

My temps now with the new cooler:
GPU 44°c GPU(dispo) 44°c GPU(memio) 88.5°c GPU(sharedcore) 60°c
(fan at 100% 2000RPM)

These temps are when the gpu is at 0%.
I'm a bit worried of the memory temps isn't 88.5°c to high?
I red on another topic that 78°c for the memory is normal... But doesn't it lower the lifetime of that memory chip?

Thx, Fré

edit:
Here are some pictures how it is cooled... (with those hig temps)

I have 2 of those coolers on my 4870's and the idle temps are around 44 and load in the mid 50's.

What are you using to monitor your temps? Could you post screenshots for me to compare?

Edit - Also did you connect the Fan to the card direct or the 12v connection for your PSU?

You need to have some high quality VRM/Memory heatsinks for the 4870. Stock ones (that come with the accelero) aren't good enough.

88c is kinda hot, but it'll do. Having your PC on decreases the lifetime no matter what the temps are. By the time the card dies you'll have a new PC (in most cases).

no I connected it on the card... Its pwm, so you can't connect it on the 12v (cuz when my computer starts up the fans doesn't start untill xp starts...)?

True! But not when you want to sell your old computer to someone else... Just thinking in the future

Yea, ive seen a lot of complaints when people use older aftermarket HSF's on the new Radeon cards. The memory and VRM's throw off an absolute ton of heat and need to be cooled well. You could also use an Antec Spotcool to cool the chips.

Just make sure they'll fit under the heatsink.
