Well what are you using to stress the GPU for load because if you are using OCCT like you mentioned in a post before dont. My 4870 load at 60-70 in games and it goes over 100C with OCCT cause its garbage. As for stock cooler i thinks its fine for a 4850. When i had my 4850 used to get 93C under load and the i changed paste and it drooped at 89c and this was with 1.3v and 800Mhz. Stock it would have been around 65-70C

Furmark causes artificial load conditions, higher than the card will ever see in gaming.
__________________That was the source of the 4870 popping VRM's/overheating debacle. Use something like 3Dmark and log temps with rivatuner, that will give you a much better idea. The 4850 stock cooler should load at 75-85C in real world gaming.

I'm not saying furmark is bad, just that it stresses the cards more than the manufacturer ever intended. That's why ATI eventually released a patched driver that throttled back the amount of stress that Furmark puts on the GPU, but even with that it still loads quite heavily.
__________________It's a great way to stress test if you have the cooling but I'm not a big supporter of running Furmark on cards with stock cooling.
