Default Gasp Gasp. High temps 4850

Playing Halo 1 on my pc, with 100% fan speed on the reference cooler, My temps hit 102C core and 110C mem. Yuck.

I was planning on re-formatting tomorrow so along with that, i'm going to have to clean my comp as well, which includes swap the TIM on all the components. Hopefully there is tons of dust and stuff under the 4850 so that when I clean everything out, it will lower the temps dramatically.

Do you guys have any other tips (which include buying nothing more than I already have) on reducing temps? like home-grown methods?

Dust removal will be a huge help with that, TIM will help a little bit. If you're serious about dropping temps though, plunk down $25 or so on an arctic cooling accelero S1 rev. 2

my temps are 30-40c cooler at idle than with my old reference cooler

like a spare stock cooler from intel onto the GPU?
What will I do for the RAM? remember, i don't want to spend ANY extra money.

Will be back with the results within the next 24 hours.

You got a side fan installed in your Antec 900? Set it to intake, should help GPU temps a bit. (~5c).
