I've been considering reseating my 4890. I was able to successfully do this on my 9800GTX+ but obviously I'm a bit concerned. Also, can I replace the heat pads with a tiny dot of OCZ freeze on the rams and voltage controllers?

I wouldn't mess with the RAM. If anything, buy new thermal pads.

IIRC, there is a gap that requires a thermal pad to fill properly, but that's something I read somewhere and I haven't checked for myself.

I would really love to know where to get replacement thermal pads. I have moved mine back and forth so much that they are dirty and useless.
