Default ATI 4850 accelero s1 rev2

Hi guys, I have installed my S1 rev2 on my ATI HD4850 but the memory voltage regulators are not being cooled , the heat sink provided with the cooler falls of when I put it on them.
I wanted to know, if the voltage regulators won't be cooled is it a big deal or it's OK.
Thanks a lot.

You should definitely cool them. Go to your local RadioShack and pick up a tube of arctic cooling ceramique for $5 bucks and reattach it. Don't forget to completely remove the double sided tape.

use an eraser to take off the wax so the heat sinks can stick.

I made the same mistaken on my cooler, ended up making a custom vrm sink for my card. It cools better than the normal heatsink but its just wasted effort in the end

A good rule of thumb is if something has a heatsink on it on the reference card, then you should probably cool it.

A dot of superglue works fine in a pinch, but thermal tape is a better plan.

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=22980

I ran my 4850s without sinks on anything for a week while I waited for some to be delivered. No ill effects but the volt regs get untouchably (new word of the day) hot just idling.
