9800GT should be fine, HD 4770 not.
According to this: http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...ty%20List.html

I think if you used two low profile 92mm fans, you would be just fine. I was very surprised how low it is. I think on the site they show it with two of those low fans.

I have the T-Rad2 with iandh custom heatsinks, just using two low speed 92mm fans - one of the Thermalright fans that came with it and a 92mm Noctua. I'm very pleased with the temps even without strong fans, I don't have my load test results handy right now but there was a significant GPU temp drop, with a small vRAM temp drop, and a slight VRM temp increase.
I'm just waiting for the Thermalright VRM-2 cooler for 4870/4890s to be available in stores, then I'm set for my future OC efforts. Just a note - I had to slightly tweak one of the T-Rad2 heatpipes so that it cleared the DVI connectors.

Just came back from picking up the TRAD-2, it came with 2 Thermalright fans too
Either Thermalright started shipping them with fans or the sales guy threw them in for the heck of it since we see each other alot. Excited to install this

Meh, even with the low profile fans it still seems to be larger than a stock double-width card

You won't be disappointed with the t-rad 2. It is one of the best aftermarket GPU coolers.
edit: Wow nice!
