You think this thing will cool the GPU enough?

Absolutely not, my 4870 overwhelmed a VF900 and VF1000.

Go with a T-RAD2 or Musashi

Thanks for the info Grunion, it's what I thought, but it never hurts to ask.
I picked up 4 for $15 a piece or so, And I know they are quieter than most stock ATi jobs. Lol, see above at grunion's post, also, the VF900 ~=~ VF1000 I'd probably go with the Musashi to save on space an such, anyone know how well this does? I'm lookin for a cooler that is dual slot, quiet. Price isn't so much of a problem to me.

The VF1000 did well on the GPU, but was terrible at cooling the pwm's, 20°c hotter than the stock cooler.

No way a VF900 could effectively cool a 4870. a 4850, maybe, but not a 4870.
I'd suggest the musashi(w/ stock fans, 2 slot) or the Accelero Twin Turbo(2.5slot) Also look into a VRM cooler. You may have to mod it for height constraints. A vf1000 + a RHS90 would probably be a very effective solution. A little costly perhaps tho. The RHS90 does an AMAZING job, even when I've cut it down to a lil less than half it's original height

Accelero twin turbo for budget and trad2 for best performance.
