So +Rep to anyone who can give me insight into this! THX! P.S. Plan on using the Scythe aftermarket VGA cooler. **Double posted on the ATI Graphic card forums, didn't see the cooling forum**

Link to post on the ATI Graphic card forums.
P.S. Use the VRM-R1 & -R2 on the lower & upper cards respectively to avoid clearance issues.

Unless you get the VRM-R1/R2 you won't be able to do any heavy stress testing like ATITool, Furmark etc.. because the VRMs will overheat in a matter of minutes.
Other than that though you should be fine. The highest temp I've ever recorded during normal use was 113C after an hour of Crysis. The max is 120, but mines gone up to 140 without crashing. Oh and XFX can't sell you an extra cooling plate, I've already asked.

I mounted an Accelero on one of mine (http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=32...ctic%20Cooling). It makes it a LOT bigger, and depending on your case/mobo combo, you might be limited in what card is your primary. My Accelero-ed card will ONLY fit in my top slot with my new case/mobo. I cannot mount it in the 2nd PCIE slot. I had plenty of room in the Cosmos 1000 case + MSI Eclipse board, but much less with an Asus P6TD Deluxe mobo + HAF932 case.
__________________Install was NOT fun. LARGE pics below (too lazy to resize) :![]() ![]() ![]() But after all the trouble of installing that cooler (it's a painful install), I accidentally discovered the best air cooler for 4890s: the Coolermaster HAF932 case. It has a GARGANTUAN 230mm fan that blows directly onto the video cards. No joke, it shaved a full 15C off my idle temps on BOTH 4890s. Bart

Thanks for all the help! Really appreciate the pictures!
__________________After some thinking and review of many posts I decided I would go with this: (2x) Thermalright T-Rad2 GTX Heatpipe Slim VGA Cooler with Dual 92mm Fans for ATI and Nvidia http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/t-rad2gtx.html Thermalright VRM-R1 (Side-Panel Type) Voltage Regulator Heatsink for ATI 4890/4870 http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/vrm-r1.html Thermalright VRM-R2 (Tower-Cooling Type) Voltage Regulator Heatsink for ATI 4890/4870 http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/vrm-r2.html I figure i'll use the VRM-R2 for my top card and let it sit next to my processor fan +a 80mm fan of its own. And then I'll use the VRM-R1 on the bottom card and let it be cooled by fan on the side of my case. We'll see how it works, im supposed to get then in 1-5days! I'll post pics. +Rep to all who helped thanks!

Yes I have, and with that 38mm HSF I really haven't noticed the temp cost. When I did change over to a pull setup I also changed my TIM to MX-3 from AS5 and I've seen a 5C drop in my temps across the board. I was going to try doing a shroud for my HSF and had already gotten the sacrificial fan (Kaze 1000) but now I don't think I will since it will overpower the 1900rpm Slipstream exhaust and burn that one out.
