I was just wondering what the safe operating temperatures for these chips are?
I don't remember the exact model but they are Qimonda DDR5 with an operating freq of 1000MHz. They are the chips on the reference HD4770 to be exact. (They run at 850 on this card but are designed to run at 1000) *Note. I don't need suggestions about cooling or any of that, I'am just curious for my own ignorance. I can't find any official documents that provide this info. I've just always been under the impression 120°C is the ultimate cracking point. Any knowledge or fairly educated input would be appreciated.

GDDR5!
But anywhere below 80 degrees celcius should be fine, the lower the better of course. At around 80, though, it gets kinda sweaty.

Most BGA memory ICs are rated at between 80 and 90C.

Ok, under a gaming load Iam getting around 80, now this is with them clocked at 1120 with stock being 850 and the rated speed from Qimonda stating 1000.
They are however completely bare, which is something I will be addressing.

80 is fine, but couldn't hurt to spend a little money to put some heatsinks on them
i personally wouldn't like mine being 80c, that's a bit toasty for me
