Ok so i got my Mushashi a while back. Temps were good but not great. I just today put the red plate back on the card b/c i did not know you could do that.
Temps got better but my memory IO temps still get very hot. What part of the card is that? And what can i do to lower the temps? Stock clocks btw. Below is my temps:

MEMIO is a part of the chip. It runs really hot as you see. Its normal to have it about 5 to ten degrees Celsius higher than the GPU temp.

I also have the Mushashi and your load temps aren't that bad. 85 degrees for your memory at load after 3 minutes is acceptable, as long as they stay under 100 c. But the memory chips are located underneath the red plate and are the squarish looking chips surrounding the gpu, they are pretty hard to miss. You could use the heat sinks that came with the Mushashi but the chances are your phase temps with skyrocket.

Its Ati tool btw not furmark. Wow 100c?! That seems just way to high. I just don't ever remember it getting that hot with the stock cooler.
Much quieter though.

I'm uninformed about the XFX 4890, but do you have the butchered version or the reference PCB? If you have the modded version it could run hotter or something because XFX decided they needed to alter the PCB to cut costs (something which ATI should not have allowed.) This maybe could be unrelated too though, I'm not sure.
I only watch DISPIO. All your temps look pretty good and these ATI cards can run hot. I think they're rated to handle around 85C+ and probably higher on the memory and shaders.

Personally my Memory temps stay in the 60 range under load, and it took multiple reseats of the plate and the Mushashi itself. It wouldn't hurt to try and reseat the cooler again.

Could reseating it really effect the memory temps? It just has that weird tape on it. This is alot of load and most games its in the 60* range but like far cry 2 gets it toasty.

It did for me, I have no idea how that tape under the plate keeps phase and memory temps cooler than the heat sinks provided but they do somehow. Oh and BTW did you use the copper spacer when you installed the Musashi? If so remove it and try again.

As has been said memio is part of the GPU die, it has nothing to do with the memory ICs themselves.
I really recommend a reseat, temps should be a fair bit lower than that. What application method did you use for the TIM?
