I just installed this on my HD 4830, and I'm digging how quiet my room is now without the stock cooler.
One thing though... I ran F@H and the temps shot up to 90 degrees celisus... in 15 seconds... it didn't do that with the stock cooler. I'm positive its mounted correctly using the A set of holes, and I'm idling at 48*C on the core. I noticed when it did hit 90*C the back of the card was hot as #*%$. Using rivatuner, the core temp/display IO read 90*C the same time, however memory IO and shader core where 68 and 63 respectively. I know it IS cooling because the heatsink itself is warm to the touch. I'm hoping its a bad temp sensor, but burning myself on the backside of the core where the GPU is throws that idea out the window. I tossed on OCZ Freeze instead of the standard TIM that came on the heatsink, and all screws cannot be tightened anymore. I'm so confused as to why my stock heatsink was giving me better performance then the Accelero.

It needs more air blowing across it,Does your case have decent airflow.Your running it passive right?

Did you take the clear plastic protective film off before installing it?

i bet this is the culprit here...

Am I running passive, yes, but even still at 25% fanspeed on the stock heatsink, it would take well over a minute in Furmark to hit even 70*C.
Air flow: 2x 120 antec tri-cools on low as intakes, the Xigmatek fan off my HDT-S1283 on the side panel (sadly it sits JUST above the GPU) (speed fan reads 1,500rpm), 1x 120 antec tri-cool on low as exhaust, 1x 140 antec tri-cool on low as exhaust. And then a Ultra Kaze 1K sitting on my CPU heatsink. (hoping airflow ACROSS it isn't the culprit, but even with the 1,500rpm Xigmatek inside the case blowing on the heatsink didn't help load temps) Plastic film: I assume I did, I had to clean off the original TIM on the base. Only films I found was the backing of the adhesive on the mounting corners.

With exposed dies (such as your 4830) you need to make sure that you spread a thin layer of TIM over the ENTIRE surface of the die. If you don't (and use the glob or line method) you can get hot-spots on the die. This will make temps shoot right up. What I often do is spread a thin layer of TIM on the die and ALSO add a very small glob to the center to make sure any imperfections in both the die and cooler are filled. Every time I do this I get great temps. Try that out. I bet if you uninstall your cooler there is a bare spot somewhere on the die. Let us know!!!

Did a remount and redid the TIM, as well as zipped tied the 1.5K rpm Xigmatek fan onto it. I used less tim and spread it over the shiny area of the GPU.
66*C idle... F@H for 5 seconds shot it up to 111*C. I'm not 100% sure about the die, but I'm assuming that would be the ENTIRE area covered by the copper base on the Accelero? Idling at 70*C (clocks listed in sig) and the heatsink is cool. >.> I have it clocked down to 290/455 for less then 60*C idle temps while I wait a reply.
