Ahhh, I see what you did. Instead of literally using a strap tie and tying the fan onto the cooler you used the head of the strap tie to hold the fan in place.

So, has anyone aftermarket cooled the 5870 or what I am more interested in, the 5850 yet?

System: Shadow
CPU
I7 920 C0 @ 3.8 on 1.29V		 Motherboard
Asus P6T		 Memory
Corsair 6GB DDR3/1600 Mhz 		Graphics Card
Sapphire 5850 @ 900/1250

I know the Scythe Musashi fits on the 58xx series cards but not the 5770.

Cool it pretty much the same way as the 48xx series, leave the stock plate on and aftermarket cool the GPU with a Musashi.

still working out a few things and experimenting, I will make a thread and post the link here. I can't make any mistakes since the card is worth ALLOT of money.

Still having issues finding a program to flash my card's bios on windows 7.

I'm not all that knowledgable on GPU cooling/parts yet...what about the other components/parts on the GPU that need cooling (other chips?)...does the musashi cool those off well enough on the 5850?

That is the reason why I said to leave the stock plate on and use the Musashi to cool the GPU. The stock plate cools the RAM and VRMs and you have two 10cm fans for cooling.

The Musashi uses two 10cm slim fans. You can replace them with regular 10cm case fans for increased CFM.
