Default 62C idle

Just installed my sapphire x1800xt.

ati tool is saying it's at 62C. So, curiously, I opened the side panel on the pc and felt the card, it was a bit warm but not hot to the touch.

So question is, should I trust atitool and invest in some more cooling or should I just ignore it.

the rest of the system is at 36C.

Then again it's 85F in here.

62C is about right for the card, maybe a very little hot. graphics cards run much hotter than CPUs

you might consider a new cooler

62c is about right yes for the x1800 so there is nothing to worry about there. You want to keep it under 85c load really.

Mine is 60C idle and usually runs 70C while gaming but that's with the fan set to run 82% at 70C.

Well, I messed with the fan speeds a bit, now its at 48C idle and haven't tested load yet.

Also did the ghetto mod and put an extra fan angled up under it. Worked surprisingly well.
