Default worst when overclocked? 9600xt

i have a 9600xt and when i overclock it to 550, 320 i do worst in benchmarks. i got 3600 in 3dmark03, when i leave it stock at (500,300) i get 4200 in 3dmark03.......WHY?????????

your overclock is probably just too high. test it by going up at 5mhz increments

Sometimes overclocking it too much generates too much heat, which can actually hurt framerate.

Have you noticed any artifacting at those overclocked speeds?

well..according to ati tray tool, no artifacts

Which version?

0.23 is prolly the best version out right now, the beta's are pretty buggy still.

And remember, artifacting on ATI Tool's cube is harder to do than in a game...games/benchmarks ask for so much more out of the card.

i have a 9600xt too and i would like to know whats are teh best mem and core values to get the best out of it. ty

ok i have a 9600xt and ive been fooling around with the overclocking settings i found in a good heated/ACed home the core should be able to go up to 555 and the memory should be able to go up to 304 the 9600xt doesnt do so well in memory but right now iam in my basement where it is cooled and i ahve my core up too 600 dont try it if you are in an area where your enviroment pc temp doesnt run 72 F and your card runs 30 C

ok my results ahve changed i cna now get 564/332 on atitool without artifacts when stock core/mem i get 3804 in 3dmark 03 and when oced i get 4203
