I am building a system for a friend, and after a couple minutes of gaming, it just shut off. I had to reset the power supply to power it back on again. I thought maybe it was the 9800pro so I poped it in my pc which has been working fine for months. It worked fine for about 2 hours of 3dmark. So I put my x800 in my friends comptuer and it fan fine in 3dmark for about 2 hours. So I put my friends 9800pro back in his comptuer and it ran for a couple minutes and just shut off. I checked all the voltages on his comptuer through msi corecenter and they were all right on mark and rock stable. His cpu temps are 38max... and I don't really know what else to look for. Here's his specs:
AMD athlon 64 2800+ MSI K8N NEO FSR Rosewill 9800PRO PQI powerseries 512 MB pc 3200 coolmax 400 watt power supply 3 case fans and 1 slot fan under video card nothing nowhere is overclocked

My guess is maybe there's an issue with the power connector to the card and his PSU which shorts out. If it works fine on your computer and you have to reset the PSU when it crashes his, my guess is a prob w/the power connector on his card and/or the one on his PSU. Try plugging the card in with a different molex from the PSU see if it persists.
Hope that helps

![]() I think it's just the 2 connectors didn't like each other...hence why the x800 did work.

Ahh... well it's been a while now and it turns out the problem is not entirely solved. The exact same thing still happens, just now only once a day at most. I checked the fan control on the power supply and it was set to auto, because I know sometimes it gets changed during handling. So I don't really know what else it could be... maybe the power supply is bad but I had it in my pc for at least 6 months and it worked fine until I put it in this one.
